I had it all worked out – it would be best for me to either get pregnant in April so I’d be able to finish out the fall semester or wait a few months so I could finish spring semester too. Amazing how naïve we can be! More than two years and many doctor appointments later, we were heading into our first round of in vitro fertilization. We were very optimistic and fully expected that I’d get pregnant on the first try and we’d have plenty of embryos, of course. That’s not exactly how things went, but three years, six tries, and one adoption class later, I finally got pregnant.
